A vehicle to design, implement, and evaluate community health interventions
Our lab is a coalition of scholars, students, community organizers, and practitioners dedicated to improving sexual health, education, and rights. We are based in New Orleans, Louisiana and support projects throughout the state and the broader Deep South. Our lab develops original projects and boosts existing ones with technical assistance.
We are boots-on-the-ground organizers with specialized skills and cultural competency to mobilize the public and drive change. Through our portfolio of projects, we empower individuals, families, and communities with direct services and education, equipping them to care for themselves and each other.

Annual Block Party
We hosted the inaugural New Orleans’ Sexual Health, Education & Rights Block Party in July, 2024. Together with over 20 community organizations and programs, we served over 250 residents with vital direct services and provided a wide range of informational and educational resources. Join us for our 2nd Annual Block Party on Saturday, April 5, 2025!
Capacity-building for Sex Ed
We are supporting existing initiatives and developing Sexual Health Education Capacity Building Workshops for Youth-Serving Organizations, Teachers, and Parent-Caregivers. These interventions will take place in the context of sex education deserts in Louisiana, where no mandate for comprehensive, evidence-based sex education exists.
Black Birth Matters
We are supporting the evaluation of the Black Birth Matters annual summit, which focuses on the intersecting issues of birth and social justice and centers the black experience. This gathering is an opportunity to advocate for better birth outcomes and experiences for black families through arts engagements, discussions, panels, and networking sessions.
We are supporting Pozitive2Positive’s expansion of two key interventions: Friends with Benefits (FWB) and Conversations with Unc (CWU). FWB, launched in 2023, engages black, brown, and latinx communities in New Orleans through themed, peer-group-specific events focused on HIV education, testing, and care linkage. CWU, launched in mid-2023, provides group support for individuals living with HIV, covering topics from managing diagnosis to living fully with HIV.
